When Wessex Museums launched its first Crowdfunder to raise money for the
Thomas Hardy exhibition, none of the team had any experience in this field. Here we share the learning – including the challenges and unexpected benefits.

Was extensive… We developed a Gantt chart project plan that all members of the team had access to. This helped us to keep on track. However, the whole programme did take much longer than we thought, and we ended up pushing back the launch date.

The great bustard has a dignified slow walk but tends to run when disturbed, rather than fly.
The hen-bird on display at The Salisbury Museum was one of the last great bustards to be eaten in the town!
